#1 Brook is located between Indian Bay Big Pond and First Pond, an area with a history of extensive logging activity. As a result, pulpwood can be found in water bodies throughout the Indian Bay watershed, however, significant accumulations have been noted in #1 Brook.
IBEC’s team of staff and volunteers used log peaveies and manually removed large amounts of pulpwood to improve spawning grounds while ensuring adequate material remained to provide cover habitat and food sources.
